Republican Shane Ford defeated Republican challenger Ronald Wolford 29-18 in Tuesdays Havre City Council primary election for Ward IV.
The results tabulated by the Hill County Clerk and Recorders office are unofficial until the county commissioners canvass the results later this week.
Only 385 of the 4,986 registered voters in Havre, just over 7.7 percent, went to the polls Tuesday.
Fords victory advances him to the general election where he will face Democrat incumbent Emily Mayer Lossing.
All four Democrat candidates ran uncontested. Douglas B. Larson received 63 votes in Ward I, while Vickie Rae Clouse received 44 votes in Ward II. Jack R. Brandon received 62 votes in Ward III and Mayer Lossing received 43 votes in Ward IV.
In the other uncontested Republican races, John C. McLain, Sr. received 47 votes in Ward I, Gary L. Schubert received 50 votes in Ward II, and Kevin Allison received 27 votes in Ward III.
All the candidates in the uncontested races advance to Novembers general election.
