Pehlke obituary

CHESTER STUB PEHLKE

WHITEWATER Chester G. Stub Pehlke, 78, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at a Phillips County care center of cancer.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at the Malta Lutheran Church with burial in the Malta Cemetery.

Pehlke was born Aug. 21, 1921, at the family farm at Forks, to Gustave and Emma H. (Luepke) Pehlke. He was raised and educated at Forks and Whitewater and graduated from Whitewater High School. He attended Northern Montana College for a year. He was employed as a farmer and rancher.

On Nov. 11, 1959, he married Janice A. Bartley in Whitewater. She died in 1971.

Pehlke enjoyed baseball, basketball, and watching Whitewater School sports. He also enjoyed playing cards. He served as chairman of the Whitewater School Board, was treasurer of the Whitewater Lutheran Church for more than 30 years, served on many boards in the Whitewater community, supported the Northern Montana Youth Ranch, and was a member of the Malta Lodge #57.

Survivors include a daughter, Tina Bonnell of Manhattan; a son, Tom Pehlke of Glen Burnie, Md.; sisters, Bea Phillips of Long Beach, Calif., and Freda Wall of Indian Town, Fla.; a brother, Ray Pehlke of Glasgow; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the American Parkinson Association.
