Chester had not lost a game since the middle of last season, until Friday night when the Centerville Miners came to town and shut-out the Coyotes, 26-0.
Neither team scored in the first quarter, but, in the second, Centervilles Skip Noble ran for two touchdowns and lifted the Miners to a 12-0 lead at the half.
Centerville scored once in the third and once in the fourth quarter to put the exclamation point on its win over No. 1 ranked and defending state champion Chester.
Box Elder was shut-out Saturday 46-0 by the Power Pirates.
Power scored three times in the first quarter and twice in the second to lead at the half, 38-0. The Pirates scored once in the third
All six Power touchdowns came from the legs of Brett Vick who scored on runs of 6, 9, 1, 9, 11, and 24 yards.
Big Sandy got its second win of the season Saturday as it drilled Sunburst 54-6.
The Pioneers scored four times in the first quarter. Seth Davidson scored the first touchdown and ran the ball in from two yards out.
Daniel Weaver scored the next Big Sandy touchdown from three yards away.
The other two first-quarter scores came on 20-yard and 12-yard passes from Aaron Myers to Mace Mangold.
In the second quarter, Davidson scored twice on 30-yard and 42-yard runs. The Pioneers final touchdown of the first half came off a Weaver return of a blocked punt. Big Sandy led 48-6 at the half, after a Refiners touchdown late in the second quarter.
Chris Ayers scored the final Pioneers touchdown in the third as he ran the ball in from one yard out.
Big Sandy head coach Scott Chauvet said his team played very well and at a high intensity level.
Chauvet said the first four games of the season were the toughest, and he knew if they could keep playing like they did in those games, they would be OK later in the season.
The win was a big morale booster, Chauvet said. It was nice to be on the winning side of the fence after losing the first three out of four games of the season. Chauvet also said he was pleased he was able to get his younger athletes a little playing time.
The kids were excited. It was a game that we needed to be on the other side, in a big way, Chauvet said.
Next up for the Pioneers is a clash at home with Valier. Chauvet said the game is a big one with the winner staying in the playoff hunt and the loser possibly falling out of contention for a spot in the playoffs.
Blue Sky blasted Heart Butte Saturday 73-23.
The Warriors scored first, but the Eagles responded with five scores of their own.
The first was on the ensuing kickoff, as Joey Stuart returned the ball 67 yards for the score. Blue Skys next score was a long one, as Justin Simenson found Eric Marshall on a 69-yard pass play.
Roger Larson caught a Stuart pass, Marshall ran for a score and Stuart found Larson a second time to put the Eagles up 38-8 after one.
Blue Skys five touchdowns of the second half started off with a Dain Petersen one-yard run. T.J. IronBear fell on a fumbled ball in the end zone; Chris Clements had a 26-yard run for a score, and IronBear picked up another fumble and ran it back three yards for a touchdown. The Eagles final score of the game came as Stuart returned a Heart Butte kickoff 77 yards. The game ended at halftime on the 45-point mercy rule.
