BENITA MAYER
Benita L. Mayer, 73, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at a Great Falls hospital from complications of heart surgery.
Vigil services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
Mayer was born Nov. 19, 1925, to Viola (McIlhargey) and Ben Thompson at Sandpoint, Idaho. Her family lived on a ranch at Grouse Creek, Idaho. She attended grade school at Grouse Creek. She graduated from high school in Sandpoint, Idaho in 1948. After graduation she moved to Ephrata, Wash., and was employed for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company.
On Feb. 27, 1954, she married Patrick Mayer at the St. Allouise Catholic Church in Spokane, Wash. The couple moved to Havre in 1955.
Mayer was employed in Havre for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 38 years until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Judes Catholic Church. Her hobbies included cooking for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, the outdoors, and fishing with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Donald Thompson.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick, of Havre; and two cousins.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Parish Center and St. Jude School or to the donors choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
