Schrouder obituary

EUGENE SCHROUDER

BIG SANDY Eugene Okle Schrouder, 90, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at a Chester care center of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Big Sandy United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Big Sandy Cemetery.

Schrouder was born July 23, 1909, at Mohall, N.D., to James and Pearl (Sams) Schrouder. He moved with his family to Missouri in 1919, and returned to Rudyard in 1928, where he began working for his uncle, A.K. Schrouder.

On Oct. 24, 1934, he married Vivian V. Crofoot in Fort Benton. He worked for Reinhard Bold. The couple moved to the Phon Adams place south of Rudyard in 1943. They retired in 1977. She died in 1998. He later moved to a Chester rest home.

Schrouder was a member of the American Hereford Association and served as director of the Bear Paw Hereford Association in Chinook. He raised registered hereford cattle. He enjoyed farming and ranching. After his retirement he enjoyed watching television and visiting with his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Glenn Schrouder.

Survivors include daughters, Jean Fisher of Lewistown and Carolyn Shruvinton of Port Angeles, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Florence Ketterling of Big Sandy and Hope Crofoot of Hamilton; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Rudyard Historical Society, Big Sandy Historical Society or donors choice.
