BIG SANDY James O. (Bob) Brewer, 83, a rancher and rural resident of Big Sandy, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at a Big Sandy medical center of natural causes.
Rosary services will be held 7 p.m. Monday at the St. Margaret Marys Catholic Church in Big Sandy with Father Joseph Diekhanus officiating. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at the St. Margaret Marys Catholic Church in Big Sandy with Father Joseph Diekhanus officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Big Sandy Cemetery.
Brewer was born Dec. 3, 1915, at Tarentum, Penn., to Everett and Flora (Maizland) Brewer. His family moved to Geraldine when he was young. They later homesteaded at the foot of Chase Hill. He rounded up horses and broke many broncs.
In 1937, at Missoula, he married Catherine Pursley. The couple later moved to Helena where he worked for the A.S.A.R. Company. In 1939, the couple moved to Birch Creek to ranch.
Brewer was a former government trapper. He was a member of the Stockgrowers and the St. Margaret Marys Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Brewer of Big Sandy; daughters, Beverly Phalen and Sandy Cheryl Pavlovick of Big Sandy; sons, Jerry Brewer and Jimmy Brewer of Big Sandy; a sister, Margaret Guschausky of Missoula; a brother, Glenn Brewer of Seeley Lake; and four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
