CHINOOK Marie M. Snedecor, 95, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at a Havre care center of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the American Lutheran Church with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.
Snedecor was born May 6, 1905, in Moundridge, Kan., to Gustav and Regina (Wegner) Maeirt. She moved with her family to Montana when she was eight years old. The family homesteaded in the Elloam area in 1914. She attended Hiebert school, graduated from Chinook High School and attended Western College in Dillon.
On June 1, 1926, she married Donald Snedecor in Havre. The couple ranched north of Chinook until his death in 1970.
Snedecor was president of the newly-organized Pleasant View Club. She organized and sponsored the Merry Maids Club, was historian for the North Central Montana Cow-Belles and past matron of Northern Star Chapter #23 Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Chinook History Club, Writers Club, and the American Lutheran Church. She was also a free lance writer for numerous publications.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Janet Allison in 1990, four sisters and eight brothers.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church or to the Benefis Foundations Housing in Great Falls
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
