Northern wrestlers ready for Maroon-Gold dual

What better way to face off the best of the best than by pairing up the members of the back-to-back NAIA national championship wrestling team?

The Montana State-Northern Lights test their inner-strengths with the Maroon-Gold dual on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Northern gym

These matches are going to be competitive, Lights coach David Ray said. Weve got a great nucleus of guys. To get their (spot) theyre going to have to compete.

Twenty of the younger Lights competed in wrestle-off challenges last week to earn the right to pair with the starters. But this will be more than just an exhibition intrasquad match, Ray noted, with starting slots for the upcoming home duals at stake.

For the redshirt wrestlers, the dual with give them much needed exposure in a true competitive situation, Ray said.
