Esther Helena (Norberg) Dowen, 81, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at a local hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Dowen was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Velva, N.D. While growing up she worked with her mother at the Miller Brothers Ranch southwest of Chinook. She also worked in Havre at the Sacred Heart Hospital kitchen during 1935 and 1936, and at Marguerites Dress Store.
On Dec. 27, 1937, she married James Dowen Sr., at the Dowen home in Chinook.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sondra Pepin of Havre; a son, Jim Dowen of Kalispell; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Sunday School at the church.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
