HAZEL IRENE MILLER
Hazel Irene Miller, 86, Havre, died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 in Glasgow.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999 at the First Lutheran Church in Havre with the Rev. Walter Kirkegaard officiating. Burial will follow in the Malta Cemetery. Music will be played by Dave Rice and the pallbearers are grandsons, Jim Birkoski, David Birkoski, Lee Birkoski, Rick Birkoski, Jerry Bohn and Doug Bohn.
She was born July 24, 1913 in Plaza, N.D. to Garrison and Hilma Bessie (Larson) Ballard. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school before graduating from Plaza High School.
She married John Edward Miller at Wolf Point on Feb. 2, 1937. They lived in Glasgow, Malta, Chinook, Great Falls and Havre. Her husband died in 1988.
She worked as a housekeeper for a number of years.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Esther circle. She did volunteer work for the senior citizen soup kitchen, Lutheran Home and hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a grandson and a sister.
Survivors include three daughters, Joan Steffani, Glasgow, Phyllis Birkoski, Glasgow, and Barbara Bohn, North Havre; two sisters, Marie Hammer, Plaza, N.D., and Evelyn Wiig, Plymouth, Minn.; two brothers, George Ballard, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Ralph Ballard, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
