Havre's 18th annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner, a community meal served free at St. Jude Social Hall from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, is just four days away.
The time to order home delivery, though, is slipping away even faster.
To order home delivery for shut-ins and the infirm, call the North Central Senior Citizens Center at 265-5464 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. today through Wednesday. No orders will be taken after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Volunteers will take the home delivery meals around to the homebound diners Thursday morning. More than 200 home deliveries a year have gone out since the dinner was started by an anonymous donor nearly 20 years ago.
Linda Rennick, who is overseeing the community meal, said she has received numerous calls from people volunteering to help in any way they can.
A new anonymous donor is picking up the tab this year for 26 turkeys, more than 100 pumpkin pies, and cases and gallons of accoutrements. The meal with all the fixings has attracted between 550 and 900 diners in past years.
To volunteer to help with the community dinner, leave a message on Rennick's machine at 265-1488 or call one of the other lead volunteers.
