EUNICE (MITCHELL, LAMERE) SANCHEZ

ROCKY BOY -- Eunice (Mitchell, LaMere) Sanchez, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at a Great Falls hospital of natural causes.

Wake was held today at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy. Burial will follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Sanchez was born April 7, 1923, in Rocky Boy, to Malcolm and Caroline (Whitford) Mitchell. She received her education in Rocky Boy and Milwaukee, Wis. She received her LPN training in St. Louis, Mo., and finished her training in Great Falls in 1962. She began her nursing career in 1962. In 1952, she went to Washington D.C. with Catholic Sister Providencia, where they were instrumental in getting medical help for the urban Indians.

In 1941, she married David LaMere. The couple divorced in 1963. In 1965, she married Domingo Sanchez. After her retirement in 1952, the couple moved to Rocky Boy. He died in 1996.

She enjoyed being a nurse, playing bingo, traveling, and helping her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Kenny LaMere, four brothers, five sisters and a grandson.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon Watson, Norma Plascencia and Renee Denny; sons, Jack and Gary LaMere; all of Rocky Boy; sisters, Martha Lewis, Lydia Sutherland and Caroline Boushie all of Rocky Boy; a brother, Malcolm Mitchell of Polson; 37 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
