CULBERTSON -- Sandi Lux Sundsted, 56, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at her residence of heart failure.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral services were held yesterday at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow with the Reverends Alvin Beyer and Marty Mock officiating.
Sundsted was born Jan. 27, 1943, in Havre, to Fred and Stella (Paulson) Lux. She was raised in Chinook, where she attended schools and graduated from Chinook High School in 1961. She later worked in Havre and then at The First National Bank in Great Falls.
On March 10, 1968, she married Tony Sundsted in Chinook. The couple lived in Shelby and Sidney before moving to Glasgow in 1981. She worked as the Parish Visitor for the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow and later at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.
In 1996, the couple moved to Culbertson. She was active as a volunteer at the museum in Culbertson and in many parish activities at the Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed making communion bread, participating in Bible studies and taking her part in the church women's circle. She taught Bible School, Sunday School and led Bible studies at Pella Lutheran Church in Sidney, and the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow.
She initiated The Relay For Life in Glasgow, serving as chairperson the first year the event was held. She also led cancer support groups in the Glasgow community.
Sundsted enjoyed collecting antique furniture, brass, copper, pewter and Roseville pottery, attending auction sales, traveling with her husband throughout the West visiting family, attending concerts and sightseeing, and watching her grandson's activities. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word games.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Dick Lux and Lennie Lux.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Sundsted of Culbertson; daughters, Kim Metzger of Chinook, Karna Sundsted of Los Gatos, Calif.; brothers, Lee Lux of Miles City and Ron Lux of Glasgow; a sister, Judy Howe of Craig, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
Bell Mortuary in Glasgow handled the arrangements.
