Blue Sky 75, Box Elder 61
The Blue Sky Eagles won a 14-point decision over the Box Elder Bears in District 9C action at home Friday.
Sophomore Brett Petrick led a balance offensive attack with 19 points. Seniors David Jurenka and Brandon Anderson added 17 points apiece, while Tyler Hutchinson chipped in 11.
The Bears (0-3, 1-5) remained winless in the conference, although 6-foot-4 center Kendall Parker led the team with 14 points. Junior Brandon Gopher added 13 in the loss.
Chester 73, Blue Sky 58
Host Chester Coyotes handed the Eagles a 73-58 non-conference loss Saturday. Hutchinson poured in 26 points for naught in the loss. Jurenka added 10 for Blue Sky.
Chester returning all-state selection Jeff Graham scored a team-high 23 points. Brent Clark added 17, and Matt Hill tallied 14 in the win.
Blue Sky slipped to 2-1 in the conference, and 4-3 overall.
KG 46, Chester 45
In a key non-conference clash, the KG KouGars edged Chester 46-45 Friday at Gildford. Chester 's Graham tallied 17 points, while Hill added 10 in the loss.
The KouGars (2-0, 4-1) were led by T.J. IronBear who scored 13 points, and Jared Miller, who added 12 in the win.
The game was a rematch of last year's State Class C title game, which the KouGars won, capturing their second-straight crown.
Chester stands 2-1, 3-3 in the standings.
Hays/Lodgepole 91, Turner 32
The Hays/Lodgepole Thunderbirds handed the Turner Tornadoes a 91-32 rout Friday in District 9C action at Hays. Turner (1-4 overall) was led by the Van Voast boys, each of whom scored five points apiece.
The Thunderbirds, knocked on the door of 100 points, placing three players in double digits.
Shawn Shambo scored a game-high 16 points, Casey Martin added 13, and William Stiffarm scored 11 for the T-Birds.
Hays/Lodgepole 70, Big Sandy 59
The T-Birds improved to 4-0 in the District 9C, collecting the win over the Big Sandy Pioneers Saturday at Big Sandy. Shambo popped five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 22 points for Hays.
Ervin Doney scored 13, and Martin added 12 in the win.
Big Sandy, who slipped to 0-3 in the conference and 0-7 overall, was led by Justin Yirsa with 18 points.
Rocky Boy 52, Big Sandy 44
The Rocky Boy Stars handed the Pioneers a conference loss at Rocky Boy Friday. The Pioneers were led by Jackson Burke with 11 points. Daniel Weaver also hit double figures with 10.
Rocky Boy (2-1, 3-3) was led by three players with double figures. Sophomore Mike Seaton hit three 3-pointers en route to his 13 points. Josh Raining Bird added 13 points, and Anthony Standing Rock chipped in 11 in the win .
J-I 67, Brady 39
At Brady, Jeremiah Johnson led a balanced Rams attack with 15 points, as J-I pounded Brady in District 10C action Friday at Brady.
Jeremy May scored 12, and Curtis May added 10 in the win.
J-I 83, Valier 68
The Rams improved to 4-0 in the conference and 5-1 overall with the conference win over Valier Saturday at home.
Brent Spicher, Ivan Van Dessel, and Curtis May each scored in the 20s en route to the win. Spicher nailed five 3-pointers and tallied 20 points, Van Dessel hit three treys and scored 20 points, and May scored a game-high 21 points in the victory.
Jeremy May added 14 in the effort.
The Rams will host the Chester Coyotes in conference play on Thursday.
