Lights finish third at Clackamus Open

Yet another tournament and yet another road trip for the MSU-Northern Lights wrestling squad.

The Lights competed at Portland, Ore., for the Clackamus Open, hosted by Clackamus Community College.

Northern was one of 12 teams in attendance at the tourney. The Lights came away with nothing less than a third-place finish.

At 125 pounds, Northern's Abel Valdez finished in second place.

Jessie Schaeffer finished first in the 141-pound weight class.

Northern's Tamien Labuff placed first at 149 pounds, while Lights' Lyle Cronk was third in the same weight class.

At 165 pounds, it was Chris Hayes taking first place, while Kyle Fisher wrestled to a second-place finish at 165 pounds.

Mark Lane competed at 174 pounds, and came away in first place, while Emmet Willson finished in third place at 174 pounds.

Light Tyson Thivierge finished first at 184 pounds.

Finally, in the heavyweight division, it was Damion Martindale taking second.

The Lights return home this week as they host Western Wyoming College in the Northern Gym on Thursday night. The dual is slated to start at 7 p.m.
