Chester, Sunburst spikers remain undefeated in District 5C

Katy Engstrom and Michelle Van Dyke combined for 12 kills to lead the Chester Coyotes to a 15-2, 15-4, 15-6 victory over the J-I Rams in District 5C volleyball action at Chester on Thursday.

Van Dyke and Engstrom also served well, collecting four and three aces, respectively, for Chester.

The Coyotes improved to 5-0 overall.

Angela Peek and Kari Tempel led the J-I attack.

Tempel tallied three aces and two assists for the Rams, while Peek notched four kills and five digs.

J-I slipped to 1-3 overall.

Heidi Cicon collected five digs and Devan Lalum had four for Chester.

At Sunburst, the Refiners improved to 6-0 in the district with a 15-13, 15-7, 15-8 win over the Blue Sky Eagles in conference play.

Monica Groth, Cassidy Han, and Jess Patrick tallied three blocks apiece for Blue Sky.

The Eagles dipped to 2-4 overall with the loss.

Patrick also had five kills for Blue Sky, assisted by Han, who finished with six assists.

Shilo Burkhartsmeyer tallied nine digs for the Eagles.

Randi Dydahl and Jen Brandon led the Sunburst attack.

The Coyotes will face the Refiners for the first time when they travel to Sunburst on Jan. 28.
