Good luck, good show to speech, drama teams

By HDN Staff

We wish the speech and drama teams from Havre and the Hi-Line the best of luck at the state tournament this weekend.

It's nice to have a chance to highlight some of our academic extracurricular activities, and we applaud the students and coaches for participating. Athletics are wonderful activities, but other activities such as speech, business and foreign language clubs sometimes get pushed out of the limelight.

Congratulations are also due to the people who have worked so hard to bring the tournament to Havre and to set it up. Long hours have been put in by the volunteer judges, the Havre High speech coaches, Havre Activities Director Charlie Klimas, the business community, and others. These hours are greatly appreciated.

It's great that Havre gets a chance to shine, and the hard work put in by these people gives us that chance. Some 700 people will be in town for the tournament, and we can show them the best Havre has to offer.

The event also gives back to the community. These 700 will need places to sleep, to eat, and to shop and entertain themselves between rounds. This is extra business that would not be here without the tournament.

Good luck to the participants! Good luck to the coaches and schools that have donated the use of their schools. We hope the tournament runs without any problems. And thanks to all involved in bringing and setting up this event.
