The mystery of the leave of the 7-10 ...

By Marlene Pizzini

"The dreaded 7-10 leave is considered almost impossible to pick up. Last season, 7,307 of them were converted into spares. Many bowlers who made the 7-10 never witnessed their own accomplishment, they turned in disgust without seeing what their ball did. Did Ryan Mapes turn or did he see his conversion of the 7-10?"

I was nearly finished with this Sunday evening when we received word that Gil Lieberg had passed away. Gil and Jean were very active at Hi-Line Lanes until 1976 when Gil retired from the railroad and they moved to Bigfork. Gil tended bar during the Mixed Doubles for many years while Jean and I worked the tournament desk. Jean was the bookkeeper at the lanes for Leo Kraft until moving.

June Erickson grabbed a $100 from the pill pot, leaving it at $265, strike $265, and YABA $262. Jackpot Gary holds his fun night of bowling every Saturday at 8.

The first weekend of the Mixed Doubles saw a top score of 1309 by Laurie Martinsen and Jim Lambert. The tourney runs for two more weekends with an entry fee of $24 per couple and a $500 first place prize. Shift times and other info are posted all over the lanes or call Gary for it and reservations at 265-5885.

Sunday, March 5, the finals of the Bud Traveling League will be held at Choteau's A & K Lanes. The time for registration has been moved back to start at 8 a.m. with bowling at 9.

Cut Bank will be hosting a Women's Invitational Hdcp. Tourney March 25 and 26. There will be four-women team event, doubles, and singles with a $10 entry fee per event and all events of $1. Last year's averages will be used with hdcp of 80 percent of 200, no limit. This is a sanctioned tourney, entry blanks may be obtained by calling me at 265-4664 or leaving word at the lanes.
