The Havre High Blue Pony volleyball team hosted a triangular this weekend with Browning and Lewistown in attendance.
Havre won both of the matches, downing the Browning Indians, 15-0, 15-9, 15-3. The Blue Ponies then beat Lewistown, 15-5, 15-10, 15-12.
Against Browning, Erin Patera led the way in kills with 11 of Havre's 26.Patera also led Havre in aces with four. Kristen Kuka led the Blue Ponies in assists with 11. Havre's Teri Sherrill and Tiffany Shrauger each had five digs.
In the match against Lewistown it was again Patera leading in kills with 17. Patera also led in blocks with six and aces with five. Kuka tallied 16 assists to lead the way for the Blue Ponies. In digs it was Shrauger topping the team with 23.
Havre High head coach Bill Huebsch said it was a very big weekend for his team. The win over Lewistown gives the Blue Ponies a chance to claim the regular season crown this weekend.
The Blue Ponies head to Livingston this weekend to take on the Park County Rangers.
Currently Havre is 7-2 with the one match left, and Lewistown is 8-2, but done with conference play.
If Havre wins the two team would be tied but when it comes to head-to-head matches, Lewistown won in four games at home, while Havre won in three. The first place spot would go to the Blue Ponies.
This weekend was the best the team has played, Huebsch said.
"This is the time of year when we have to play out best," Huebsch said.
Huebsch said they are playing more consistently and with just one weekend left before divisionals things are coming together well.
"The girls did a great job," Huebsch said.
