The formation of a student Republican club at MSU-Northern and the recently completed Lincoln Day Dinner topped the agenda at Thursday's Republican Central Committee meeting.
Brad Lotton, chairman of the Hill County Republican Central Committee, announced that he had met with a group of Northern students Wednesday who have started a Republican Club on the Havre campus.
Lotton told the committee that while the group was still small, the enthusiasm of the group was high.
He explained that he was impressed with the excitement the group generated and announced that they had agreed to help the committee with chores like voter registration and campaigning. Lotton also said he hope the students would be willing to attend central committee meetings and become interested in serving in various capacities within the party.
Lotton also expressed his hope that current members of the central committee would find the time to attend some of the meetings the students have scheduled for their club. He noted that central committee members could offer a wealth of experience to the group.
The Lincoln Day Dinner was also declared a success by the central committee noting that attendance this year was up over previous years.
Candidates were pleased by the high degree of organization at the Havre dinner offered noted Lotton who said many of the candidates had commented that this was the best organized event they had yet attended.
A consensus of the committee said they believed the public enjoyed the evening and a substantial amount of money was raised during the event to support committee activities through the year.
