Public education board meets

The Montana Board of Public Education meeting began today with a goal setting session held at the Great Northern Inn at 11 a.m. and a Montana Board of Education meeting at the Montana State University-Northern Student Union Building Ballroom at 3 p.m.

The rest of the board's meetings will take place at the assembly room at the Havre Middle School.

The sessions continue on Thursday with an Internal Affairs Committee meeting at 8 a.m. The Board of Public Education meeting will be called to order at 9 a.m., and will return to order at 1 p.m. after lunch.

The meeting will resume at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Issues covered will include the chairperson's and governor's office reports, an accreditation task force update, a professional development update, a prior year assessment report and a profile update/rural school evaluation process scheduled for the Thursday morning board meeting.

The Thursday afternoon meeting will include the 1999 youth Risk Behavior Survey results, safe schools/crisis management, a general fiscal review, and an OPI monthly update.

The Friday meeting will include future direction, internal affairs report/action, a student representative report and an executive secretary report.
