The Brownsville Revival which has swept up an ecstatic fervor throughout the evangelical Christian world is coming to Havre in May.
For five nights, and maybe more, a 12-person revival team from the Brownsville Revival in Pensacola, Fla. will host a Hi-Line revival at the old JCPenney store in the Havre Holiday Village Shopping Center. The revival will begin at 7 p.m. nightly, with the doors opening at 6 p.m.
Services will be held Sunday, May 14, at the sponsoring churches.
"I really do believe that this probably does, from a spiritual standpoint, have a lot of lasting historic implications for this area," Pastor Charlie Moody of Havre's Foursquare Gospel Church said.
Moody, the driving force in bringing the revival to Havre, made a pilgrimage to Pensacola this winter to see first hand the miracle he'd heard so much about.
"It is just absolutely amazing what God is doing," Moody said. "We haven't even really promoted this yet, but we've gotten calls from as far away as Oregon to find out what we'll be doing here."
The Brownsville Revival has been attracting countless thousands of pilgrims to Pensacola for a fresh touch of power and presence of God for 4 years.
Moody said his visit to the Brownsville Revival has changed his life.
"From the bottom of my heart, I am not the same person I was when I went there," Moody said. "He revamped me as a person, as a pastor."
Moody said that he attained a greater sense of intimacy with God as a result of the revival. "The presence of God there is tangible."
Foursquare Gospel and the Hi-Line Christian Church were the first to become involved in the revival. Now more and more local churches, including the Rocky Boy and Havre Assembly of God churches, the Ark, and Hingham Foursquare Gospel Church, are becoming involved.
"There are a number of churches and more getting on board all the time," Moody said. "These are exciting times to be alive and a very exciting time to be a pastor with what God is doing and what I think he wants to do."
"One night while I was there, they had 129 countries represented," Moody said. "We're at the point where we're just hanging onto God's coattails. This thing is taking on a life of its own. God manifest. He's pulling the strings."
Admission is free, but advance donations are needed to help meet the up-front expenses of bringing the revival team to Havre. The leading expenses are for the team's travel and rental of the mall space.
Moody sees the whole Hi-Line area gaining spiritually and in other ways, too, from the revival.
"It's really something for them to come to a place like Havre, Mont., a little town, an outpost of everything, and minister what God is doing down there in this place," Moody said. "When God moves, it benefits the community, too."
A free-will offering will be taken during the revival with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Brownsville Revival Team.
