The Havre Blue Pony golf team gets into the swing of things at Shelby on Friday.
However, with the music festival taking place, only two varsity boys and one varsity girl will participate.
"The kids are anxious to get going," head coach Keith Evenson said. "This will be a more challenging course for us."
Beaver Creek Golf Course, the Havre course where the team practices, does not have any trees. The Shelby Course, located in the Marias River Valley, has plenty of trees that the team must avoid.
"I'd like to see them stay out of the trees," Evenson said.
Class A Bigfork, Browning, and Whitefish, and Class B Chinook, Choteau, Conrad, Cut Bank, Fort Benton, Malta, Shelby, and Class C Valier will be at the meet.
Sophomore Jill McLain will be the only girl on the trip. She is currently shooting in the high 50s after more than two weeks of practice.
Jason Johnstone and Kyle Sheppard are the varsity boys' golfers this weekend. They are both shooting in the high 30s at this time.
Sophomores Kyle Lammerding, Dallas Crossley, Matt Felt, JR Morse, and Jacob Szudera, and freshmen Josh Knudson and Ryan Safley will also make be competing.
The junior varsity will compete at Conrad on Saturday.
