ROCKY BOY A Stone Child College Native American studies major has been selected to read a paper at the Montana History Conference in West Yellowstone next fall.
Timothy Hiser, student government vice president, was selected for the honor by Robert Murie, head of the Stone Child Native American Studies department, at the invitation of the Montana Historical Society.
Hiser said his presentation will be on the history of the Chippewa Cree Tribe of Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation located in the Bear Paw Mountains south of Havre.
Hiser will give his 25-minute reading at the conference between 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Oct. 13. He will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Phyllis and Dennis Washington Foundation of Missoula.
The society also will pickup Hiser's costs of attending the conference, which runs from Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 12-14.
