JEANETTE AVERY: Obituary

Jeanette (LaFrance) Avery, 73, longtime Havre resident and cook, died Thursday, June 1, 2000 at a Havre care center of natural causes.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Holland & Bonine Chapel with Pastor Kathy Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.

Avery was born Nov. 19, 1926 in Rolla, N.D. to Wilfred and Marie (Ledoux) LaFrance. She attended North Dakota schools.

She met Lloyd Houim in North Dakota and they married. They later moved to Montana and lived in Havre and Kremlin while he worked at International Harvester Eaves Equipment in Havre. They later divorced.

In 1973, she married Bud Avery.

Avery enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, puzzles and camping at Beaver Creek. She was a member of the Eagles and VFW Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold (Bud) Avery in 1986; sister, Emelda Schenck; brother, Eugene LaFrance; and Lloyd Houim in 1992.

Surviving are five daughters, Judy Lazier of Havre, Janice Houim of Missoula, Carol McDuffee of Missoula, Susan Burton of Florence, and Sandi Knutson of Polson; son, Rick Houim of Havre; four sisters, Laura Armstrong of Devils Lake, N.D., Rose Christensen of Kalispell, Albina Warp of Phoenix, Ariz., and Evelyn Johnston of Rolla; brother, Art LaFrance of Rolla; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
