Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Turner High School Gymnasium with Pastor Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at Turner Cemetery with military honors.
Hutton was born July 19, 1922 to Guy and Muriel (Graham Doyle) Hutton in Dodson. He was raised on the family farm north of Turner. He attended Petrie School through eighth grade. At 14, he went to work for area farms and ranches.
Hutton enlisted in the Marine Corps on Dec. 11, 1942 and saw active duty in Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. While stationed in New Zealand, he was baptized in the Presbyterian Church. He finished his service in the occupation of Japan at Okinawa and Nagasaki and was honorably discharged as a sergeant at Camp Pendleton, Calif. on Dec. 11, 1945.
On Nov. 27, 1946, he married Adrienne Phyllis Richards of Orkney, Saskatchewan. The couple joined his brother and wife to farm their father's farm until 1948. Hutton then bought a farm on the Canadian border, 11 miles north of Turner.
Hutton enjoyed farming and ranching and took pride in his horses, cattle and land. The couple retired in 1988 for health reasons and moved to Havre. Hutton sold the farm to his son, Miles, in 1990 and continued helping as his health allowed, mending fences, checking cows and summer fallowing.
Hutton was a director of Blaine Bank, now Norwest Bank of Chinook, for 18 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #109, Cherry Ridge Grazing District and Montana Stockgrowers Association.
He enjoyed attending the 2nd Marine Division Reunions over the years.
Hutton was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Hutton; sister, Lyla Gill; and a daughter, Karalee McCoy, on May 2, 2000.
