Cut Bank tips Comets

By Damion Martindale

The Havre Comets tried to turn things around against the Cut Bank Cardinals Wednesday afternoon as they double dipped at Legion Field.

In game one, the Comets gave up four early first-inning runs and were unable to answer the Cards' continual pressure.

Havre was able to get on the board in the second inning, cutting into Cut Bank's lead 7-2, but that was as close as they would get.

After a fifth inning explosion by the Cards, the Comets had to put up the white flag and regroup for game two after dropping game one, 16-2.

In game two, Cards' pitcher Luke Alford handcuffed the Comets, allowing only one hit, which was a double coming off the bat of Dusty Heath in the first inning.

Cut Bank scored four runs in the first inning to seal things up early. The Cards added four runs in the third and two in the fourth to 10-run the Comets in game two, 10-0.

The Comets will kick off the Havre Baseball Jamboree today against Scobey, with the game time at 6 p.m. at Legion Field.
