Taco tour hits Chinook course

The tale of the week windy, cloudy, with bursts of rain.

That doesn't stop the golfers in Montana.

On a course termed "extremely windy, cloudy with rain showers," the Taco John's Youth Golf Tour boasted four top finishers from Havre.

Nick Obie, in the boys' 15-17-year-old division, placed first with a 72. It was the lowest score of the tournament, held at the Chinook Golf Course on Thursday.

Jason Johnstone, a teammate on the Havre Blue Pony golf team, fired a 77 and placed second in the same division.

Jessica Sande of Havre fired a 99 and placed first in the girls' 15-17-year-old division.

Katie Miller, a teammate on the Blue Pony golf team, placed second with a 117 in the same division.

Jessica Kauffman of Chinook, a member of the Sugarbeeter golf squad, fired a 118 and placed third behind the Havre finishers.

Michael Erickson and Matt Hedstrom of Havre placed second and third, respectively, in the boys' 11-12-year-old division.

Erickson fired a 96 and Hedstrom a 103.

Sixty-three participants took part in the tournament.

The next stop will be the Marias Valley Golf Club at Shelby on Wed., June 15.
