LORN KAERCHER
BILLINGS Lorn H. Kaercher, 81, of Billings, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000 of natural causes.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings with a luncheon to follow.
Kaercher was born Dec. 3, 1918 on a homestead near Rudyard to Norman W. and Nettie (Angus) Kaercher. He attended country school and graduated from Rudyard High School.
Kaercher served with the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He received the Purple Heart. After the war, he worked in Havre, where he met and married Maxine Smotherman in 1947.
Kaercher worked in oil exploration for several years and retired from J.R. Simplot Company in 1981. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV. They wintered in Yuma, Ariz. and spent their summers camping in Montana.
Kaercher's hobbies included wood carving, gardening, and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marvin, and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine; sons, Dennis and Tracy; daughter-in-law, Mary Kaercher Hopstad; brother, Lloyd Kaercher of Havre; three grandchildren.
