The economy just might be getting a boost in Havre. With several businesses recently starting in town, some more might be around the corner.
Mark Hardy, president of Advantage Line, Inc. said he would decide by the end of the month whether he would locate his new telemarketing center in Havre or not. This could mean 300 new jobs in town within a few years, starting at about $7 an hour.
James Rodgers, president of Sunbelt Communications out of Las Vegas, said the agreement with NBC has been signed and equipment ordered to set up Havre's first ever TV station. He said it should start broadcasting a signal relayed from Sunbelt's Helena station by the end of the year, and a local broadcast should be going within a year after that.
Any activities like this give one sure benefit for the area: more income for everyone. New companies mean new jobs, new jobs mean more employees, more employees means more money to spend in the local economy.
More money translates into more places rented or bought to live in, more food, clothes, entertainment and luxury items paid for more dollars spent. And even if it isn't spent in a particular business, the people from where it is spent also spend their extra money. Economic growth helps everyone.
The economic future of the area is looking a little brighter. Let's all do everything we can to help it grow.
