Barber obituary

GEORGE BARBER

CHINOOK George "Tom" Barber, 55, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at a Havre hospital from injuries sustained in a vehicle rollover accident.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in Chinook. Burial will follow in Kuper Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

Barber was born Dec. 9, 1944 in Havre to Harold and Cecelia (Kinsella) Barber. He attended school at People's Creek and Lloyd. He graduated from Chinook High School and joined the National Guard in 1962.

Barber married Marilyn Rusch on Sept. 27, 1975 in Chinook. He did carpentry and construction work all of his life in the Chinook area. He also was a motor route newspaper carrier for the past nine years.

Barber was a member of the Chinook Volunteer Fire Department since 1967 and had served as the fire chief. He served as caretaker at the church.

Barber enjoyed attending his children's sporting events and was a proud grandfather. He also was an avid gardener.

Barber was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Chinook; son, James Barber of Chinook; three daughters, Natalie Bucklin, Jillian Barber and Georgia Barber, all of Chinook; two brothers, Frank Barber of Chinook and Larry Barber of Billings; sister, Mary Marie Bessette of Great Falls; two grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be sent to the Presbyterian Church.
