HIDEKO HARADA
BOISE, Idaho Hideko "Heda" Harada, 77, died Friday, June 9, 2000 at a Boise hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services were held June 15 at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Idaho. Interment followed at Wilder Cemetery.
Harada was born July 28, 1922 in Havre to Izo (Paul) and Yashi Okada. She was raised and educated in Havre. After her mother died, Harada lived with Laura Wilson and her daughter, Irene, with whom she developed a life-long sisterly relationship.
On April 25, 1943, she married Roy Harada in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he was stationed with the military.
The Haradas owned several restaurants in Havre for many years.
In November 1966, they moved to Caldwell, where he worked at the Golden Pheasant and the Holiday Motel restaurant until his retirement. She worked for the Crookham Seed Company for many years before retiring.
He died in 1983 and she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Homedale for the past four years.
Harada was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Irene Gerstenberger.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Itano of Homedale; son, Roy Harada Jr. of Meridian; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces, and several great-nieces and nephews.
