NINA SHEPHERD
BELLINGHAM, Wash. Nina Carol Shepherd, 79, Bellingham, Wash. died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000 of natural causes.
A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church in Bellingham on Saturday, Sept. 23.
Shepherd was born Dec. 11, 1920 in Calvin N.D. to Adam and Elsie Henderson. When she was young, she moved with her family to Chester.
She married Ralph Shepherd in Chinook on Aug. 15, 1938. He died on Dec. 26, 1966.
Shepherd was active in Chester Methodist Church.
In 1969, she moved to Pullman, Wash., worked at Washington State University and enrolled in school. In the 1970s, she moved to Maryland to work in the registrar's office of the University of Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1977 and was attending graduate school when she decided to move to Bellingham, Wash. to be closer to two of her sons.
Shepherd worked as a legal assistant in Bellingham and attended First Congregational Church. In 1985, she moved to Idaho to care for her mother. She returned to Bellingham after her mother's death in 1996.
Shepherd enjoyed traveling and made trips to Europe with choirs, Russia with Citizens for Soviet-American Dialogue, and Japan and Scotland with family.
Shepherd was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph;
Survivors include her sons, Gary, Rodney, Donald, Douglas and Dan; brothers, Pete Henderson of Malta and John Henderson of Arizona; aunt, Lena Crummy of Cut Bank; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law; 10 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
