Water main replacement progresses

Jim Gunderson of Shumaker Trucking and Excavating Contractors, Inc. said that he would like to thank the Havre community for its patience during the construction of the water main connection on West Second Street.

Gunderson said that his crew worked around the clock to make the interruption as quick as possible, however, some of Havre's West side was without water on the morning of Sept. 13.

"It took a little longer than we thought," Gunderson said, "and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Gunderson said that the main connection was one of the biggest parts of the water main project on second street, and that the connection was very important. He said his crew wasn't sure what to expect when they began construction.

"You can't tell what's under the ground until you get down there" he said.

Gunderson said that his crew was pleased with the support shown by the Havre community during the water shut-off. The remainder of the main replacement project is currently taking place on Second Street, and will require detours for through traffic until it is completed.
