LETHA PETERSON

CHINOOK Letha M. Peterson, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 in Helena due to natural causes.

Grave-side services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kuper Memorial Cemetery in Chinook. Burial will take place there.

Peterson was born Feb. 11, 1908 in Chinook to Levi and Ida Runyan. She graduated from Chinook High School and attended college in Bozeman. Peterson taught at Ida School south of Chinook for a few years before taking a job with F.A. Buttrey in Havre.

She met Harold D. Peterson while working at Buttrey's store and they were married June 11, 1934 in Great Falls.

The Petersons owned the Foodcenter in Chinook and later ranched east of Chinook. She lived the last three years in Helena to be near her family.

Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold, in 1978; sisters, Dolly and Lorena; niece, Carol Holmes.

Survivors include her son, Alan Peterson of Helena; grandchildren, Kendra Richardson of Missoula, Sheryl Clark of Helena, and Todd Peterson of Havre; two great-grandsons; two nieces and a nephew.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners' Hospital or to one's choice.
