CHINOOK Ray C. Ramberg, 87, died Oct. 1, 2000 at a Chinook nursing home of natural causes.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Lloyd Sweet Auditorium of Chinook High School.
Ramberg and his identical twin brother, Roy, were born Jan. 24, 1913 at the family ranch on Clear Creek south of Chinook.
Ramberg attended country school at Ada School and graduated from Chinook High School in 1932. He worked on the family ranch and the U&I Sugar Factory in the winters of 1939 and 1940.
He married Erna Clawiter on Jan. 20, 1941 in Fort Benton. They took over the family ranch in 1941 and raised Hereford cattle from 1942 until 1973.
Ramberg was an active member of the Bear Paw Hereford Breeders Association and won many grand champions over the years. His 1961 grand champion bull of the Bear Paw Hereford Breeders Show and Sale was displayed on red carpet at the former Citizens Bank, now Wells Fargo Bank in Havre.
He also drove semi-trucks for DePriest Trucking and Williamson Trucking.
He moved to Chinook in 1989 because of his health.
Ramberg enjoyed going to the bull shows and sales and never lost interest in the livestock shows. He enjoyed following his grandson's progress through the years. He enjoyed raising sheep and provided sheep for many 4-H projects.
He was a director of the FmHA Board in Havre. He served on the Ada School Board from the 1950s to '60s and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 689.
Ramberg enjoyed all high school sports and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos.
Ramberg is survived by his wife, Erna Ramberg of Chinook; daughter, Patricia Rae Nissen of Chinook; son, Gary Ramberg of Chinook; twin brother, Roy L. Ramberg of Oceanside, Calif.; sister, Frances Showalter of Kennewick, Wash.; six grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the Chinook Volunteer Fire Department or Blaine County Ambulance 1.
