VERNA HEYDON

GREAT FALLS Verna Lucille (Sauer) Heydon, 81, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at her home in Great Falls.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Joplin Community Hall. Burial will follow at the Joplin Cemetery.

Heydon was born Oct. 28, 1918 to Verne and Hollis (Robinson) Sauer at Joplin. She received her early education at Meldrum Country School and finished her schooling in Joplin.

he married Clyde H. Heydon on Sept. 14, 1935 in Havre. He worked for area farmers until they acquired their own place northwest of Joplin in the early 1940s. They bought a home in Joplin in 1947 and lived there throughout their married life. He died in 1985. She remained in Joplin until moving to Great Falls in 1995.

Heydon was baptized as a Jehovah Witness in 1972. She also was a Jafra dealer for 25 years.

Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and flower gardening. She enjoyed cooking, baking and shopping.

Heydon was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sister, Vera; and brothers, Verne, Victor and Valois.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Stanberry of Joplin; sons, Earl Heydon of Milpitas, Calif., Richard Heydon of Fort Benton and Dean Heydon of Joplin; sisters, Verla Cady of Renton, Wash., Vivian Henderson of Boise, Idaho, Velma Adams of Spokane, Wash. and Varvarra Adams of Lakeside; brother, Virgil Sauer of Gresham, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Peace Hospice of Montana, P.O. Box 7008, Great Falls, MT 59403-7008.
