Yellowstone Public Broadcasting and the Havre Daily News will sponsor a debate between Democratic candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Keenan, and Republican Denney Rehberg this Saturday Oct. 28, at 5 p.m. in the MSU-Northern Sub Ballroom.
The local chapter of the Business and Professional Womens' Club will assist in the debate.
Yellowstone Public Broadcasting will carry the debate live through its affiliates around the state including MSU-Northern Public Radio at 90.1 FM and in Chester at 100.1 FM.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the debate.
The rules negotiated with the candidates by the Daily News and Yellowstone Public Broadcasting allow for each candidate to give a three minute opening statement. Each candidate will then be allowed a two minute response to the question followed by a one minute rebuttal.
Questions will alternate between the candidates.
The candidates will be asked a combination of questions prepared by the public and by The Havre Daily News. Question forms will be available at the door for guests to fill out if they want to ask a question.
Judy King of the Business and Professional Woman's Club will be the moderator for the debate and Harvey Brock, publisher of the Havre Daily News, and Ron VandenBoom, political reporter for the Daily News will be the questioners.
