MARJORIE LEARY
HELENA Marjorie Ann (Marge) Leary, 70, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000 at her home in Helena of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Covenant United Methodist Church in Helena
Leary was born July 14, 1930 in Madison, Wis. to Ellsworth A. and Mattie E. Morgan. She moved with her family to Havre when she was about 6 months old.
She was a member of National Honor Society and other clubs at Havre High School.
After graduation, she attended Montana State University. She graduated in 1952 with degrees in physical education and home economics.
At Bozeman, she met William (Bill) Leary. They married Dec. 28, 1951.
The Learys lived in Billings from 1952 to 1958, when they moved to Hamilton. They moved to Helena in 1963.
In 1966, Leary became executive secretary of the Montana Hospital Association, a position she held until her retirement in 1987.
Leary joined St. Paul's Methodist Church upon her move to Helena and was a founding member of Covenant United Methodist Church.
Her interests included bridge, cooking, sharing recipes with friends and family, and spending time with her husband at their cabin at Canyon Ferry Lake. She enjoyed watching waterfowl and hummingbirds, boating on the lake, watching baseball games in Helena in the summer and attending basketball games in the winter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Delmer Morgan and one grandchild.
Survivors include her husband, William Leary of Helena; sons, Ralph Leary of Clarion, Penn., Michael Leary of San Anselmo, Calif.; daughter, Shawn Perez of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother Glenn Morgan of Merritt Island, Fla.; sister Phyllis Barrett of Augusta; nine grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church Building Fund, Intermountain Children's Home or Hospice of St. Peters.
