Lights wrestle Northwest tonight

The Montana State Northern-University wrestling team will be headed to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, this weekend to face two nationally-ranked NJCAA schools, but the Lights have a little business to take care of first tonight.

Northwest College brings a program into Northern Gym that Lights coach David Ray described as having "talented athletes that are very competitive."

The Lights (3-1-1) will once again forfeit at 125 pounds and give up six quick points.

"Give six points up, it hurts," Ray said. "Right now we're not wrestling as good as we have in the past during the first semester, so giving up those extra points like that is hurting us."

Northern is led by 197-pounder Turk Lords, who is 12-1 this season. He will square off against Northwest's Greg Glodt.

Tyson Thivierge (184) is 13-3 so far this season for Northern, and teammates Jason Fratzke (133) and Kyle Nay (141) are each 12-4.

After completing this dual meet, Northern will head to North Idaho College to face Lassen College and North Idaho. Lassen is ranked second in the NJCAA, and North Idaho is third.
