Havre native Tim Leeds has joined the staff of The Havre Daily News as a full-time reporter covering the Havre Public School System and Montana State University-Northern.
He will also assume the duties of the Havre Daily News Business reporter.
Leeds, the son of John and Lila Leeds of south Havre, served as the editor of the Havre High School newspaper, the Stampede, until his graduation in 1985.
He then attended the U of M in Missoula where he majored in journalism and later attended MSU-Northern where he pursued a secondary education degree with an emphasis in English. He also served as the editor of MSU-Northern's newspaper, the NoMoCo.
Leeds recently pursued a career in retail before coming to the Daily News.
Leeds said coming to the Daily News is a great opportunity for him to pursue his original wish to become a journalist and he hopes this will be a life-long career move.
Matt Walen, managing editor of the Daily News said,
"I am excited about Tim joining the staff of The Havre Daily News and am confident his familiarity with Havre and the surrounding area will be a great asset to our ability to cover local news," said Matt Walen, the Daily News' managing editor.
Leeds is married to the former Jodene Langel and they have two sons, Richard 9, and Patrick 2.
