Big Sandy seniors Jessica Curl landed eight aces and Eryn Darlington added six as the Pioneers defeated the KG KouGars 2-15, 15-12, 15-10, 14-16, 15-11 in District 5C action at KG Saturday.
Tamara Davis had four blocks, and Darlington and Davis combined for 15 kills in the win. Curl tallied 13 assists, while Davis notched 10 saves, and Darlington seven.
Kristin Preeshl led the KouGars' attack with eight kills, while senior Jen Siefert added six in the loss. Ashley Melby tallied 39 of a team 59 assists. Siefert and freshman Kim Berg notched seven blocks apiece. Defensively, Preeshl had 19 digs, Melby had 14, and Berg, 13.
The KouGars also tallied 24 aces for naught in the effort.
The Chester Coyotes rolled through a triangular Saturday. The Coyotes handed the Box Elder Bears a 15-0, 15-0, 15-1 conference loss.
Carlane Jensen had 10 aces in the win. Ktie Endstrom notched seven kills, and Megan Mattson had four assists in the victory.
Josephine Windy Boy led Box Elder with four assists.
The Coyotes went on to down Rocky Boy 15-4, 15-0, 15-3 in conference play.
Jensen had six aces in the match to lead Chester. Sophomore Michelle Van Dyke tallied seven kills. Jamie Graham had four assists, and Van Dyke had a team-high eight digs.
Rose Crebs had the only Rocky Boy ace in the match.
