The Chinook Sugarbeeters came out of the District 2B with a split during the weekend.
And playing against top-notch teams in the league, that was OK.
The Sugarbeeters handed the Harlem Wildcats a 15-1, 15-9, 15-7 loss in conference action Friday.
"Defensively, we played pretty well both nights," said head coach Paula Molyneaux. "Offensively, we still need to do a little work."
The Sugarbeeters served 90 percent against Harlem en route to the win.
"We are serving right at about 90 percent all the time," Molyneaux said. "That is nothing to complain about."
The Wolf Point Wolves handed the Sugarbeeters a 15-13, 16-14, 15-7 loss at Chinook Saturday.
"With Wolf Point, that is a big matchup in our conference," Molyneaux said. Wolf Point is one of the favored teams to advance from the district.
Caroline Moores had a team-high 14 digs for Chinook in the loss. Sophomore Kelsie Whitney and Sadie Gulevand tallied eight assists apiece in the effort. Renda Birky had three blocks, and Amanda Shoen had eight kills.
"We just needed a break here and there. We needed to climb over the top of the hill, and we were just right at the edge," Molyneaux said.
The 'Beeters will host the Central A Havre Blue Ponies, beginning at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
