Chinook Beeters basketball falls to Glasgow Scotties

By Tiffany L. Rehbein

The Chinook Sugarbeeters fell to the Glasgow Scotties 60-49 in District 2B conference action Friday at Glasgow.

Junior Kalled Jaha led the Sugarbeeter attack with 14 points, while Adam Gibson added 10 in the loss.

"We are going to have to put together 32 minutes of basketball, both offensively and defensively," said head coach Glenn Smith.

Jaha, the team's leading rebounder, also grabbed 10 boards in the contest.

Troy Omsberg had seven rebounds.

"I was really pleased with that," Smith said.

The Sugarbeeters shot 78 percent from the free throw line, one of their best efforts of the season.

"If we can shoot in the 80 percent area, I am pretty pleased with that," Smith said.

Chinook (1-3, 2-6) committed 13 turnovers in the contest, something that they have been focusing on decreasing throughout the season.

"Glasgow was very strong inside," Smith said. "They put five players on the floor who could play pretty good basketball."

The Sugarbeeters will host Poplar for a conference matchup Friday, and travel to Fort Benton on Saturday in non-conference action.

Poplar is in the middle of the pack in the District 2B.

"Fort Benton is a very physical team," Smith said. "They have added a kid who had been out with an injury. How we handle that will be a big key to the game."
