The MSU-Northern Skylights basketball team has been on the road since Dec. 4, and they stay on the road this weekend as they head back to South Dakota to take on Black Hills State for the second time this season.
The two teams squared off in Havre on Nov. 6.
Northern won the first match-up, 86-63.
This game will wrap up the non-conference season for the Skylights. Northern will again be on the road next weekend to open the conference season at Rocky Mountain College.
Skylights head coach Ray Peters was not available for comment.
The Skylights sit at 10-7 at this point in the season.
Northern freshman Jana Smith leads the conference in scoring, averaging 16.9 points per game. Smith is also tied for first place in 3-point percentage, at 45 percent. Smith is second in free throw percentage, hitting 84 percent of her shots from the charity stripe.
There are three Skylights in the top 10 in field goal percentage, with Kristine Noel shooting 50.4 percent, Abby Hjorth shooting 46.3 percent, just edging out Smith, who is shooting 46.2 percent.
Hjorth and Brianna Dunn are in the top 10 in steals with 1.94 and 1.88 per game, respectively.
In the team statistics, while the Skylights have no individuals in the top 10 for rebounding, they lead the league in team rebounding, averaging 34.2 rebounds per game.
The Skylights are second in team field goal percentage at 42.4 percent, and third in team scoring and free throw percentage.
Northern is also fourth in team 3-point percentage in the conference.
