KG 97, Big Sandy 45
Joey Stuart popped five 3-pointers and led the KG KouGars to a 97-45 District 9C victory over the Big Sandy Pioneers.
Stuart poured in a game-high 21 points and led five KouGars in double figures in the win. Justin Simenson scored 12, Aaron Smith had 15, Jared Miller tallied 16, and T.J. Iron Bear notched 15 in the win.
The KouGars improved to 4-0 in conference play and 7-1 overall.
Big Sandy (0-4, 0-8) was led by Justin Yirsa who scored 11 points. Daniel Weaver added 10 in the loss.
Big Sandy, who dropped its eighth-straight game, continued to struggle Saturday as the Geraldine Tigers handed the Pioneers a 91-58 loss.
Yirsa exploded for 21 points, and Jackson Burke added 11 for naught in the loss.
Burke popped three 3-pointers in the effort.
KG 49, Rocky Boy 33
The KouGars continued their winning ways with a 49-33 conference victory over the Rocky Boy Stars Saturday.
Stuart again led all scorers with 16 points and two 3-pointers. T.J. Iron Bear added 12 in the win for KG, who improved to 5-0 to lead the district.
Anthony Roasting Stick led the Stars with 10 points.
Friday against the Blue Sky Eagles, Roasting Stick scored 11 points in the 65-63 conference win.
Josh Raining Bird tallied 13 points, Mike Seaton scored 13, and Daryl Sunchild scored 15 in the win.
Seaton popped three treys in the win, while Roasting Stick and Standing Rock added one apiece in the win.
The Stars are even with a 3-3 conference record and 4-4 overall record.
Brandon Anderson led a balanced Eagles attack with 16 points. Brent Petrick chipped in 11 points, and David Jurenka scored 13.
Ryan Schnitzmeier and David Jurenka added nine apiece for Blue Sky.
The Eagles (2-2, 5-4) had a bye Saturday.
Box Elder 72, Hays/Lodgepole 71
The Box Elder Bears upset the Hays/Lodgepole Thunderbirds at Hays Friday.
The Bears, who entered the game winless in the District 9C, upset the No. 2 seed in the district.
Brandon Gopher poured in 32 points to lead the Bears' attack, and was the only Bear to tally double figures. He hit three treys in the win, and collected a technical foul.
Shawn Shambo, the offensive mainstay for Hays tallied 29 points, with only one 3-pointer, in the loss.
Darwin Doney added 17 points in the effort.
Hays/Lodgepole slipped to 4-1 in the conference, while Box Elder upped it record to 1-3.
Box Elder 113, Turner 52
Once the Bears found the way to win, they did not stop. The Bears poured in a 113 points en route to the District 9C win.
Jeff Henry scored a game-high 24 points, and Gopher added 23 for Box Elder. Wade Colliflower added 11 and Kendall Parker chipped in 14 in the rout.
Andrew Jones scored 12 points to lead Turner, who slipped to 1-7 overall. Thursday, the Class B Harlem junior varsity handed the Tornadoes a 65-59 loss.
Dallas Egbert scored a season-high 19 points and Jones added 16 in the loss.
Box Elder improved to 2-3 in the conference and 3-5 overall.
Hays/Lodgepole 60, Dodson 35
Darwin Doney went 10-for-13 from the foul line and scored 18 points to led the Thunderbirds to a non-conference victory over the Dodson Coyotes on Saturday at Dodson.
Shambo added 14 in the victory, including three 3-pointers in the win.
The Thunderbirds (4-1, 6-3) play at Grass Range in non-conference action next weekend.
Chester 80, Sunburst 46
Returning all-state selection Jeff Graham poured in 31 points and popped three 3-pointers in Chester's pounding over the Sunburst Refiners in District 10C action Saturday.
Graham, who scored a season-high 35 points Thursday against J-I, helped lead the Coyotes to a 4-1 conference record.
Brent Clark chipped in 17 points in the win.
Chester will face Belt in non-conference play and Valier in conference action next weekend.
Heart Butte 113, J-I 78
The J-I Rams put four players in double figures for naught as the No. 1-ranked Heart Butte Warriors handed the Rams a conference loss.
Curtis May scored a team-high 25 points to lead the Rams.
Justin May and Dustin Evans scored 12 points apiece and Jeremiah Johnson added 10 in the effort.
Six-foot-6 sophomore Mike Chavez led the Warrior attack with 32 points, as Heart Butte scored more than 100 points for the second-straight night.
Next weekend, J-I will play at non-conference Big Sandy Friday, and at Sunburst Saturday for a conference matchup.
