The Northern Lights are coming off a close loss to Carroll College, but will look to rebound at home against Western Montana.
Northern got down big against the Saints and did not have the offense to move ahead for the win on Thursday.
Lights head coach Tim Walker said the biggest thing his team needs to work on this weekend is their intensity. Walker said they lacked it in the first half of the game against the Saints, but regained some of it in the second half and put themselves in a position to win.
Walker said they can not dig themselves into that big of holes and expect to be able to get back in to the game and win it.
The Lights need to be up for the game, Walker said.
"We're at home, so we have no reason to not come out and play hard and get to work," Walker said.
The keys for the Lights against Western are playing good defense and rebounding well, Walker said. The Bulldogs have some 3-point shooters that will have to be defended well.
Another thing Northern will have to do is be patient on the offensive end, Walker said. Western will switch on a lot of the screens , causing a potential mismatch. The Lights need to be aware of the mismatches and use them to their advantage. Northern also needs to get the ball inside against the Bulldogs.
Walker said their defense will have to win this game, and if they can execute well on the defensive end and be patient they should fare well.
"I think things will go our way," Walker said.
