BIG SANDY -- Adeline Jelinek Pribyl, 82, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at a Big Sandy Care of natural causes. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Big Sandy with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will follow at Big Sandy Cemetery.
Pribyl was born Nov. 15, 1917, at Hopp. She moved with her family to Black Eagle when she was four years old. She graduated from Great Falls High School in 1936, and from the College of Great Falls in 1939 with a degree in education. She taught at Cooney School south of Stockett and Sheep Coulee School south of Big Sandy.
On Jan. 22, 1944, she married James Pribyl in Chicago. The couple lived and farmed southeast of Big Sandy until 1973, when they moved to Big Sandy. He died in 1976. She entered the Big Sandy Nursing Home in 1994.
She was a member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church, Bridge Club, and was Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge. She was a founding member of the Big Sandy Senior Citizen Center and was Project Director from 1980 to 1985. She was an accomplished artist. Her hobbies included bowling, gardening and crafts.
Survivors include sons, James Pribyl of Big Sandy and Charles Pribyl of Helena; a daughter, Mary Ann Shaner of Muncy, Pa.; sisters, Sylvia Mundt of Stockett, Evelyn Carver of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Patricia Lindsey of Salem, Ore.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
Memorials are suggested to St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church of Big Sandy, Big Sandy Medical Center, or to the Big Sandy Senior Citizens Center.
