Havre bantam team places second at Helena

The Havre Ice Hawks bantam hockey team lost a 6-3 decision to Butte and placed second at the Helena Tournament Jan. 21-23.

Chazz Hurlburt, Garrett Drake and Jordon Patterson scored one goal apiece for Havre.

Patterson notched two assists and Hurlburt collected one in the game.

Cody McLain was the awesome goalie in the contest.

En route to the championship, Havre defeated the Helena white team 1-0 on a goal by Levi Briese.

Havre defeated Missoula 8-3 on Saturday morning in the second game.

Brett Patrick led the way with two goals and one assist.

Jeff Jones, Hurlburt, Jon Johnstone, Briese, Tyson Roe, and Mark Benjamin each scored one goal apiece for Havre.

Briese also tallied two assists, while Jones, Hurlburt and Johnstone had one apiece.

The Ice Hawks defeated the Helena black team 6-2 to end the Saturday session.

Hurlburt collected a hat trick with three goals and two assists.

Roe and Benjamin scored one goal each, while Briese added one and an assist in the game.

The Ice Hawks finished fourth in a sudden death shootout at the Billings tournament on Feb. 4-6, going 1-4 at the games.

Havre lost 4-2 to Butte to open the tournament on Friday.

Patrick and Hurlburt scored the goals, while Briese and Patterson tallied the assists.

Helena defeated Havre 9-5 early Saturday morning.

Patrick had a hat trick this time, with three goals.

Hurlburt and Patterson added the other two points and an assist apiece, while Briese and Mike Anderson tallied an assist each in the contest.

Havre collected its only win of the tournament with a 7-4 decision over the Billings Blaze.

Benjamin had the hat trick in the game with three goals.

Patrick added two goals and an assist, while Anderson and Briese each added a goal.

Hurlburt notched two assists and Matt Strissel added one in the win.

The Blaze, in a sudden death tie breaker for third and fourth place, edged the Ice Hawks 4-3 on Sunday morning.

Roe, Johnstone tallied the goals, while Ernie Fuglevand and Hanson had an assist apiece in the game.

McLain, the sudden death overtime, slapped in a shot.

The bantams will play at Havre during the next three weekends.
