ROBERT E. CLARKE: Obituary

WASILLA, Ala. - Robert E. Clarke, 77, died Dec. 22, 1999, at his residence in Wasilla, Alaska of lung cancer.

Clarke was born to Lyle and Blenda Clarke. The Clarke's had resided in Havre since 1928. He grew up in Havre graduating from Havre High School in 1940. During World War Two, he worked in the Bremerton ship yards.

He married Gertrude Garrett. The couple moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1951. He was a conductor for The Alaska Railroad until his retirement in 1975.

Clarke enjoyed breeding and showing Morgan horses and was active in organizing and running the handicapped riding program.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lylah Clarke Odden.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; daughters, Cheryl ZumBrunnen and Barbara Taylor of Wasilla; son, Dale Clarke of Chicago; sisters, Mozella Madison of Olympia, Wash., and Vivian Nalivka of Havre; and five grandchildren.
